Dia uno dos y tres

Día 3 2/2/09
Si tengo errores en mi “Journal” lo siento porque estoy escribiendo muy rápido.

Este día fue muy bien. Fue el primer día de mis clases en La ACM. Me gusta mucho mis compañeros de mi clase. Hay cuatro hombres en mi clase, y también muchas mujeres. También me gustan mis profesores, hay seis, y todos son amables. Me gusta Scott, el es la profesor de todo la clase, el es un gringo. También me gusta mucho Eduardo, el profesor del idioma español. Eduardo tiene tres profesores que ayudan a el, para tener grupos de los estudiantes mas pequeños. En este día fuimos a la Universidad del costa rica, para conocerse y las calles contra este universidad y mi edificio de La ACM. Fue una experiencia buena, me gusta esta ciudad. Mañana un amigo en mi escuela y yo vamos a ir a la Universidad para buscar un equipo de futbol, el juegue en el equipo de su universidad de Macalester en Minnesota. Nosotros tenemos la oportunidad a hacer ejercicios en este Universidad, porque vamos a tener una tarjeta de visitante de esta universidad. Me gustaba mis primeras días y estoy entusiasmado para el resto de mis días en costa rica!!! Los personas en mi clase y yo vamos a gira a San Gerardo de Rivas este fin de semana!
Aight quickly in english. This day was good. It was the first day of my classes in the ACM. I like my classmates a lot. There is four guys and many girls about 10. I also like my professors/teachers, there is 6, and all of them are really cool. Scott is the head of all the professors, hes a gringo (USA). Eduardo is the head of all the spanish professors and he is really funny! There are three other spanish teachers that help us learn spanish in small groups and come with us on field trips, like to san jose one day, or other stuff… In the first day we went to the university of costa rica to learn the streets between the UCR and The ACM (my school). This was fun, and I really like the city. Tomorrow a friend of mine and I are going to go to the university and try to join a soccer team. We have the opportunity to join clubs, and exercise in the university. I liked my first days, and am excited for the rest of my days in costa rica. The people in my class and I are going to San Gerardo de Rivas this weekend, a city in the mountains!

Llegué en costa rica en sábado a las una de la tarde mas o menos. Por los dos primeras días se disfrutaba con mi familia de costa rica nosotros vivimos en Sabanilla de Montes de Oca, posiblemente veinte minutos afuera del San José en autobús. Me gusta mucho ellos, son personas muy amables y cómicas. Flor es mi madre, ella nació en 1954, y ella es muy amable porque ayúdame mucho, para aprender cosas en español y más para aprender la cultura de costa rica. Tiene cuatro hermanos pero solamente dos viven en mi casa. Iván y otro hermano tienen familias y viven con sus familias, pero Teddy y Alex viven en mi casa. Me gusta mucho teddy y alex, ellos son muy divertidos. Alex tiene el mismo edad que mi, y teddy tiene dos mas anos que mi. Yo juegué futbol con alex por las calles en el domingo pasado a las diez de la mañana. También yo fui a un fiesta con el a un fiesta de la familia de su padre. La fiesta fue porque Alex tiene un sobrino que había vahando por los estados unido, Los Ángeles, en el día que viene. Su sobrino es muy cómico, y habla ingles muy bien. La fiesta fue muy bien, había mucha comida fresca, y muchos personas amables y cómicos. Me gusta mucho la comida en costa rica, porque todo es fresco. Un plato típico de costa rica es arroz con frijoles negros, ensalada con tomates, y un tipo de carne o pescado. Yo traté pescado ayer, era del mar, y me gustaba mucho porque era fresca. Me gusta todo los tipos de comida en costa rica. Ellos comer el mismo que mi. Un desayuno pequeño con frutas, jugo de naranja, y pan con mantequilla, un almuerzo grande con un plato típico, y también una cena grade.

I arrived in costa rica on Saturday, about 1pm. For the first days I enjoyed myself with my costa Rican family, we live in Sabanilla de Montes de Oca, about 20 minutes outside of San Jose by bus (paying for the bus is really cheap here!). I like my family a lot, they are nice and funny people. Flor is my mom, she was born in 1954, and she is really nice because she helps me a lot, to learn things in spanish, and to learn the cultre of ticos (costa Ricans). I have four brothers but only 2 live in my house. Ivan y another older brother have familys and live with their families, but Teddy and Alex live in the same house as me. I like Teddy and Alex a lot, they are very cool. Alex is the same age as me and Teddy is 2 years older. I played soccer with alex in the streets last Sunday at 10 in the morning. I also went to a family party of the dad of Alex, with alex. The party was because a cousin of alex was going to be leaving for the states, California. His cousin is very funny, and speaks English really well. The party was fun, there was a lot of fresh food, and many nice and funny people. I love the food in costa rica, because its always fresh! A typical costa Rican meal, is rice with black beans, salad with tomatoes, a fresh fruit juice, and a type of meat or fish. I tried fish yesterday, it was from the ocean, and I liked it a lot because it was fresh. I like all the types of food in costa rica. They eat the type of food I like to eat, and the way I like to eat. They have small breakfeastes with fruit, juice, bread with butter, and a large lunch with a typical costa Rican plate, and a big dinner. This is my first journal entry and while im in san jose the first and last months I’ll probably do two a week, but when I am in the cloud and rain forests I will try to do one a day to help with my research.
